Happy New Year!!  Welcome back. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday vacation. Please read the information below about Astrocamp, Vocab.com, and the Colonial Fair.     

I am going to have the class start using a new online program called

Please have your parents help you to sign up for this sight by January 5th. 

Once you have created an account and joined the class, I will be able to monitor your learning progress on Vocabulary.com

The class will be learning a new set of words every other week by using this great Vocabulary sight. 

Astrocamp, which is February 17, 18, and 19th,  is  just around the corner and it looks like it may be very cold up there when we go.  

This may be a good time to get warmer jackets, hats, gloves, and sleeping bags ready for the great Astrocamp experience.

Please make sure your child returns all of their  Astrocamp forms in ASAP.  (The pink, blue, and light yellow are mandatory. The darker yellow is only necessary if

your child takes other medication or has an inhaler or epi-pen or anything that is not listed on the light yellow paper.  A doctor's stamp is mandatory for the darker yellow paper.)

We will be having an Astrocamp parent information meeting on Wednesday, January 20th at 6:30 in the MPR.  

(For those of you who have been chosen to chaperone, please attend the meeting at 6:00)

Colonial Fair - The students will also be starting to prepare for the Colonial Fair, which will be in February.   This week, students will choose groups and a Colonial Job and they will start doing research for their Colonial Store Front.  They will be building Colonial Store Fronts to represent their Colonial Jobs. Once the students decide what they are going to use to build their Colonial Stands, they will need to 

bring supplies in from home.  Students have created their Colonial Store fronts from cardboard, wood, pvc piping, and much more.  We do allow them to bring hammers and nails to school for this project, if needed.  Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions.
