Important Updates- Please Read

Dear Parents,
Thank you very much for making me feel so special during teacher appreciation week.  You all spoiled me with the beautiful flowers, thoughtful cards, yummy treats, class supplies, and gift cards.  I truly appreciate your kindness and generosity.  I love this class this year and I am going to miss them next year.
With the end of the year coming closer, we have many different events coming up.  Please read the remainder of this letter carefully as it includes a lot if information.
The SBA Testing (computerized state test) is starting next week.  We will be testing on the following dates:  May 18, 19, 20, and 23rd,  and 27th.  The students will also be taking the Science State Test on May 24th and 25th.  It will cover science learned in 4th and 5th grade. Please make sure they are at school on time for those days.  Thank you!
The last day of school is June 22nd and the promotion celebration will be on that day. Once we get closer to that date, we will have a more specific time when the promotion will begin.
Our State Fair is on June 3rd at 8:30 - 10:00 in the MPR.   Most of the students are done with their research.  They just need to bring in a Tri-fold to display their information and come up with a fun game that relates to their state.  Bringing items to pass out is optional.
Our 5th Grade GATE Broadway Spectacular will be on Thursday, June 16th at 8:30 in the MPR. The students will be doing songs from Sound of Music, Les Miserables, Annie, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Wizard of Oz, Bye Bye Birdie, Grease, and High School Musical.  In order to make this event  successful, we are asking that the students get a white shirt, a bright colored shirt (Orange - if your child is an Oompa Loompa),  a ripped or dirty-looking shirt, and jeans.(No Logos)  Others who have some solos may need to get other costumes as well. About 40 students are Oompa Loompas.  They need $8 for their light- up wig, which they will able to keep afterwards. Please ask your child what he/she is responsible to get by the beginning of June.
We are also asking for a donation of $5 to help cover the cost that is going into supplies for the Broadway Spectacular.   This will help cover the cost of the canvas backdrops for our play, the paint, brushes, and props. We truly appreciate your help with this.
This week they will begin creating their virtual road trip (Travel Teams) across the United States. We will also be learning about the Stock Market. These activities involve a lot of math, financial literacy, Social Studies, and much more.
Thank you again for being such wonderful students, parents, and families.
                                                                   Sincerely,
                                                               Mrs. Fisler and Dr. Webb
